Photography is not about the thing photographed. It is about how that thing looks photographed Garry Winogrand
Beginnings
I grew up in Tottenham, North London, and moved to Dorset at the age of ten.  I had some notion of becoming a bi-lingual secretary, taking languages, shorthand and typing. I then changed my mind at A level and decided I wanted to work in geology.  In 1980 I went to Plymouth where I did a Hons degree in Geology. I returned to live in Poole and worked for British Gas for seven years and spent ten years living in the Purbeck village of West Lulworth with my husband and children.
Back to School
I have always had an interest in photography, using film cameras from my latter school years, but it wasn’t until 2008 that I purchased my first Nikon DSLR.  I decided to learn more about the subject and did a part-time A level course. I continued on to a Foundation degree in Photographic Practice at the Arts University Bournemouth (AUB) which I completed in 2013.  This was a fantastic opportunity to learn dark room printing and experimental processes such as making cyanotypes (which I really enjoyed), as well as learning Photoshop skills and developing project ideas.

I am an Associate member of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS), gaining the award in 2014 with an amended version of my final year project ‘Looking for Alice’.

The Future
I do not see myself as a photographer of any one specific genre but enjoy the process of making visual art from my images.  My portfolio includes a large amount of travel photography as well as local landscape and still life projects. As for that doll. Well, her hair is falling out so she needs a little care but I am sure she will feature again soon.

I am based in Poole, Dorset.
